The 10 week challenge: A new, more resilient you!

I’m really excited about putting this program out there.  What I want to do is provide all of you with as much information and exercises that a small blog can handle over the next 10 weeks.

Here’s how we will do it.

One: Complete the Survey

First, go into this link and complete the survey.  It may look familiar as some of you have done the workshop or gone through some of the questions on the Steadfast Training Website.   There are some demographic questions, then a few questions about stressors and then 50 statements that you agree or disagree with.  It’s anonymous and I won’t be tracing individual responses- this is just to get some idea of how resilient we all are right now.

Two: Read the blog

Next, I’ll be blogging over the next 10 weeks about 10 areas that have been shown to be important to being resilient.  I would love it to be really in-depth and full of long descriptions about the studies that inform each area, but I think it’s more important to get the point across and to keep it simple.  Some of these areas should look familiar to those of you who have been following me for a while, but I believe there’s enough new stuff out there to keep it interesting.

The first blog will be out on Sunday 23rd June 2013, then I’ll keep it up for the next 10 Sundays.  I'll let you know through Facebook, Tweet or Newsletter.

Three: Commit to doing an exercise. And then DO IT.

Your job is to commit to choosing one of the exercises.  This commitment means that you need to do it, no matter what barriers arise during the week.  Once you’ve started, you’ll probably find it easier to do and, by the end of the 10 weeks, you should have a few new, good resilience habits underway.

Four: Do the final survey and let me know how you went!

It’s that easy.  So, go in and do the survey (you could do it anytime over the next week), give me your feedback and comments and enjoy!

Sorry folks- I think it's to do with using a mobile device and how that interacts with survey monkey. I'm on my mobile now and the link isn't live. I will test it again from home on my computer and see if that works. Technology!

Yes- just checked and some responses have come in already. Looks like an incompatibility with SM and mobile devices. I am working with my IT team to put in a different survey generator- one that gives individual results and works on mobiles. That should improve things. Meantime, I hope you can all access a computer and try it from there! Each blog will also go through the 5 questions related to each area, so if you never access the survey, you'll still have the opportunity to score yourself. Good luck!

That's no good, Angela! Is it that you can't click on the link, the link doesn't take you to the survey or that you can't do the survey once you get there?

I will see if I can paste the link here and whether that helps...

Hi Ingrid - I know this is a dumb question but where will I find your blog when you do it? I'm not really up to date on blogs! I do get your newsletters, so would there be a link coming to that mailing group? Sorry for displaying my ignorance in public!!

Not dumb at all! It's just that I have so many different ways of contacting people. Something I am constantly tryjng to streamline. I will, every time I write a new blog entry over the 10 week period, send out a note to the newsletter group. I will also post it on my Facebook account (Ingrid Poulson). :)

HI Ingrid, I think my problem was driver error. My teenager quickly put me on the right track. Thanks for your patience.

Hi Ingrid, I wanted to let you know that I had no trouble accessing the survey on my computer. Thank you for this opportunity to learn more about my own resilience. I'm looking forward to your blog every Sunday. Natalie
