It’s too bad that we tend to see our strengths as a way to bring in income, that our leanings must be vocationally biased. Why should ‘vocation’ equate just to ‘earning potential’? Because I’ve just become certain that my vocation is bringing up kids, and we all know there’s no earning (at least of wages) that’s associated with that.
I just did the survey again and found my number one strength is, yes, still love. I have to at least admire the long -term consistency of the survey! Plus I’ve accepted, with gratitude that this is my strength. Being a mum, wife and family member means that this strength is the best possible one to have. It’s what it takes. Patience, yes, and restraint and a lot of heavy lifting. But without love, it is all for nothing, means nothing, goes nowhere.
Besides that, my second strength is gratitude and my third, kindness. It’s not a great business combination, but it’s certainly a brilliant combination for a happy, content and fulfilling life. And how lucky am I that I am in just the right place to enjoy it?
